CoCA Acquisition – Daniela Schlagenhauf
Daniela Schlagenhauf (born Switzerland 1957) has worked with ceramics since the 1980s; mainly in France, where she is now based. She is a well-respected artist who has completed a number of international residencies. Her early work is inspired by ancient alphabets, but more recently she has begun working with paper clay to create more sculptural pieces, such as ‘Pieces Plisse’, which takes its title from a method of pleating fabric.
This work was kindly donated to York Art Gallery by collector Moira Morley-Warland.
